The beauty of spring can also be a curse to those who suffer from allergies. With all the new blooms and fresh growth comes stuffy pain and pressure in our sinuses. Self massage can bring some quick relief to facial pain and can be combined with work on the sinus reflex points for added benefit.
To begin work on the sinus points, first place two fingers in between the eyebrows. Using static pressure or small circles, walk the fingers down each side of the nose until you reach the edge of the nostrils. There will be a slight indention that seems made for an index finger. Hold static pressure until you feel an easing of pain or are able to breathe in a little easier. Next, walk your fingers under your cheekbones. There may only be room for one or two. Hold light pressure on the most tender parts, and feel the sinus cavities begin to open again. Move the fingers back up to the eyebrows. Walk the middle or index finger along the bony ridge of the brow. Hold static pressure on the tender parts. Gently pinching the skin of the eyebrow is another way to relieve heavy pressure around the eyes. For the finishing touch, gently place thumbs on the soft spots at each side of the forehead. Massage in circular motions to drain away the last bit of facial pain.
Reflexology is another quick and easy addition to relieve sinus pain. The sinus reflex points of the hand are found on the palm side of the index, middle, ring, and pinky fingers. Using a thumb, walk up the fingers. Begin at the attachment at the palm, and move up to the top of each finger, making sure to cover the entire surface area. The corresponding reflex points for the feet are found on the sole side of the toes. Using the same technique, walk up the second, third, fourth, and pinky toe.
Use these self-massage techniques at the office, home, or in the car to breathe easy through allergy season!
Goodbye Greasy Sunscreen
by Jennie Wallace,
If you have spent any length of time in the retail area at Center MedSpa, chances are you have heard me say "Tell me about your sunscreen." Many of you describe a greasy, smelly, ointment-like product that is applied only during the most extreme situations. You've heard it enough times now to know the importance of using a daily SPF, but are still searching for the perfect facial sunscreen.
No need to look any further than Center MedSpa. Skin Medica's Daily Physical Defense SPF 30+ is the most advanced, all-mineral sunscreen that feels like a light moisturizer on your skin. It is sheer and elegant; two words that are rarely used to describe sunscreen. Until now. Patented technology delivers your best defense against the sun by deflecting most harmful UVA/UVB rays before they can penetrate your skin. And let's not forget that UVA rays are the primary cause of wrinkling, leather-like skin and other signs of early aging.
SkinMedica Daily Physical Defense SPF 30+ is formulated with zinc oxide and titanium dioxide. Their patented technology works to evenly distribute UV filters for advanced skin protection. Complete with antioxidants, such as green tea and caffeine, this ultra-sheer formula helps to fight signs of aging and glides on like a moisturizer, without the sticky or greasy finish.
Here are just a few of the reasons you'll want to try it:
- Elegant, ultra sheer, broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection
- Hypoallergenic, non-comedogenic Oil-free, PABA-free, fragrance-free
- 100% dual-mineral formulation
